Your cat can be pretty aloof. Maybe that’s why there are a lot of myths concerning our feline friends. But it’s important not to believe everything you hear! Below, a pet clinic Scottsdale, AZ sets the record straight on a few common cat misconceptions.

Cats always land upright.

This is a dangerous myth that simply isn’t true. Cats are graceful, but they can slip, fall, and land awkwardly just like anyone else. Don’t let your cat lounge by open windows or on high ledges, because they could fall and hurt themselves!

Cats purr when they’re happy.

This is half-true. Cats do purr when they’re feeling content, yes. But experts believe that cats also make this noise when they’re experiencing other emotions, some of which are negative. Cats might even purr when they’re feeling anxious or stressed!

Cats love milk.

Another half-truth. Cats may love lapping up milk, but it’s not very good for them. Most adult cats are actually lactose-intolerant, and ingesting too much dairy will cause an upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea. Keep the milk to a minimum!
